To make a perfume last

You have invested in a valuable perfume and you want it to last for a long time? It is not acceptable for you that it lasts only 2 or 3 hours?
Perfume is your scented slogan, the trace you leave in the memory of those you meet, it imprints your personality and it marks your identity.

Factors that affect the lasting power of the perfume

It is important to pay attention to the following factors:

  • The good conservation of the perfume: away from air, light, and heat (see How to preserve your perfume).
  • The strategic points where you apply the perfume.
  • Spray on the strategic points of your body: perfume the pulse points on your skin and just afterwards, apply your eau de toilette or eau de parfum on your clothes (see Where to apply the perfume).

To make a perfume last thanks to a well hydrated and nourished skin.

After your shower, apply your body lotion or cream in the same fragrance as your perfume, as well as a deodorant of the same range.

If there are no derivative of your fragrance, choose a neutral deodorant and a neutral body lotion, spray a few drops of your eau de toilette or eau de parfum in the palm of your hand at the last moment. Mix and you will then obtain a lotion with a scent that is extremely faithful to your fragrance.

Cream is richer than lotion and will retain the olfactory notes of your perfume better. The more the skin is nourished and moisturized, the better your fragrance will hold, drink from one to one and a half liters of water per day.

You can opt for a body oil that also retains the olfactory notes. You can massage the places where you want to apply your perfume. Some people apply Vaseline before applying their fragrance.
The relief of the skin will influence the hold of the fragrance, the softer and more supple the skin, the better the fragrance will hold.

To make a perfume last according to olfactory families

Fresh fragrances, such as eau de Cologne or eau fraîche made up of citrus, fruits with aromatic or green notes, are generally volatile and not very persistent. On the other hand, amber, oriental or woody fragrances based on oud are long-lasting, but there is no real rule about it.

Some floral scents, such as fragrances based on white flowers, can be incredibly tenacious: tuberose, jasmine and orange blossom.

There is therefore no truth on the subject, any olfactory family can be tenacious, except for citrus scents of eaux fraîches or cologne-type scents, which are much less tenacious.

Why can the same perfume last on someone and not on others?

Your friends find that your perfume smells delicious and ask you its name, and the very next day buy it. To their disappointment, the chemistry does not work, they do not feel "at ease with it". The perfume does not suit them, they do not get compliments and they will never wear it and very quickly regrets their purchase.

What may suit one person may turn out to be a disaster for another.

Knowing how to perfume yourself is already knowing how to choose the right perfume. The alchemy between skin and perfume is mysterious, if it works, then it is magical. It can even happen that you don't recognize the perfume you are wearing, because the person sublimates it, personalizes it, and in that case, the perfume will last very long. Perfume is an intimate expression of yourself, it must remain true to your personality.

We could draw a parallel between a meeting between two people. When the alchemy works, then everything is easy, everything goes wonderfully well and both partners are happy, but sometimes the meeting does not happen.

Some skins retain the perfume, others do not. Some diffuse, others do not. To check the diffusion of your perfume, ask a friend if there is a nice trail.

Sweat can also affect and unbalance the fragrance and make disappear fast. If this happens to you, can use your spray to perfume clothes made of noble and natural fabrics: wool, cotton, cashmere, linen, but not synthetic fabrics. As mentioned in the section "Where to apply the perfume".

You can perfume your hair to make your perfume last, perfume your comb and brush. Hair is indeed an excellent support for perfume.

Some brands offer solid perfume, which should be warmed in the hand, before applying it to the places of pulsation. Normally these fragrances are more tenacious, depending on the raw materials used.

I can't smell my perfume

Once you get used to a fragrance, it sometimes happen that you do not smell it anymore. It can be frustrating, but it is rather a good sign, and it means it is well integrated into your personality. But if your friends or your companions give you compliments or comments, it means that your perfume has a wake.

You experience the phenomenon of addiction, when the unconscious eventually appropriates the scent of the body. Then you have a solution: take a little break, change the routine with a different fragrance for a few months, perfume parenthesis.

If you do not feel like changing fragrances, then make sure you follow all the tips above to make your perfume last as long as possible.
