The word "Perfume"
The word “Perfume” comes from the Latin words "per fumum", meaning "through the smoke". Simply because the priests entrusted their prayers and incantations to these columns of smoke rising towards the gods, escaping from rare vases where precious woods, incense, resins and other very expensive odoriferous substances were consumed.
