How to choose a perfume for winter?
We choose our perfumes according to our mood, our outfits, and our environment. But many of us also choose our perfumes according to the season. So what fragrance should you wear during winter? Here are some recommendations for choosing the perfect fragrance for the cold and dark winter days!
1. Choose a warm and comforting scent
Just like you would choose comforting clothes this winter with big sweaters, coats, scarves, hats and cashmere-everything, you’ll want a fragrance that creates that same warm and fuzzy feeling. Find yourself a cozy fragrance that envelopes you like a cocoon that protects you against these tougher, colder days.
Try Florentina for example, a powdery musk that feels like cashmere on your skin.
2. Pick an Eau de Parfum
In general, an Eau de Parfum (EDP) is preferred in winter rather than your regular Eau de Toilette and Eau de Cologne. As it has a higher perfume concentration, it will be more tenacious, have better longevity and more intensity which is perfect to face these colder days.
3. Go for a woody, spicy, gourmand or sensual perfume
As these olfactory families have stronger base notes, they will allow the fragrance to be fixed and last over time. They will therefore have an excellent hold on clothing, like on scarves or sweaters. Ingredients to look out for are sandalwood, patchouli, leather notes, benzoin, honey, tonka bean and all kind of spices like cinnamon and cardamom.
Try Vangelis for example, it’s a spicy vanilla perfume that feels like sipping on a chai tea and it will comfort you all day long.
